The color choices our dreaming minds make are not at all random! When a color stands out to you in a dream, it is for a very good reason. Here are some common colors and their meanings…

White – Are you starting over in your life? This color suggests a new beginning is underway.
Green – Are you or is anyone around you feeling or expressing jealousy? Less often green can represent growth.
Yellow – Is there something going on in real life you are fearful of or need to be cautious about?
Black – Most often connected to negativity.
Blue – Often points to depression, the blues.
Red – This color in a dream is often a red flag from your subconscious warning you that some situation or behavior needs to come to a full stop.

As with any symbol in a dream, with colors you also want to try to include your own personal associations. Does the pink in your dream remind you of your childhood bedroom? Does the orange in your dream remind you of the colors of your high school football team, etc. If there is a strong personal association to the color in your dream, try to connect the dots as to why that color, and what it reminds you of, is relevant to you right now.

Every single detail in your dream has a meaning, from the colors down to what is said in the dream, it all holds a message for you that is specifically designed to help you with your life. Recently, I was a guest on  AJ’s Playhouse in San Diego, CA when a gal called in with a zombie dream… and this one ate brains!



What I didn’t get to address on the air – due to being up against a commercial block – was the brain eating aspect of this dream.  Yeah, zombies are known to eat brains, but there is certainly more to it than the fact that it comes with the territory.  This dream is showing this caller, not only that her grudge against her mother is something that she needs to let die, but that it is also eating away at her. It is consuming her thoughts, hence the eating of the brain reference.  This dream is a very clear message that her grudge has got to go.

Did you hear her relief when she was finally able to understand this dream? I think I might have even heard a chorus of angels sing!!  That’s what your dreams are doing for you every single night.  They are giving you the answers you need, the advice you seek and the solutions to all your problems… you just need to be able to understand their language.

For example, spaceships, UFOs, rockets, space shuttles, all these vehicles are capable of traveling not only high into the sky but beyond this world, so when they travel into our dreams they represent our extreme high hopes of being able to travel above and beyond our personal world as we now know it.

A great example of such a dream came from radio personality Mike Calta, who can be heard on 102.5 The Bone here in Tampa, FL.  I was on his show back in April of ’09 when he relayed an interesting dream he had about the space shuttle…

A syndication deal would certainly transport Mike to another world as far as his career path goes. But unfortunately, as his dream suggests, he’s had to suffer let down after let down. What the dream is also showing him is that the let downs and set backs are not of his own doing but of his company, because he was being towed by the Space Shuttle (his company), he wasn’t piloting it. The good news is that since this dream, The Bone has gone all talk, giving Mike a much greater platform to display his talents. The Mike Calta Show is now the most listened to afternoon show in Tampa Bay!

The audio below is a prime example of the deviant behavior we sometimes exhibit in our dreams. This is from when I was a guest on Lite 98 with Chris and Kris in Richmond, VA (of which I am a guest every Monday) when listener Sue called in with a dream she had about carving up a baby! Needless to say, she needed answers. In the audio, after I mention that this is a dismemberment dream, I ask her if she had a recent break up or needed to cut someone or something out of her life. That was edited out so just keep that in mind as you listen…



So you see, no matter how vile your dreams may be, no matter your illicit and disgusting behavior, when you are able to understand your dreams it all really makes perfect sense. Sue’s dream actually had very good advice for her and now she knows what the right thing to do is – she’s got to let that employee go – AND she’s not as worried about having to do it anymore.

Dreams are cool like that. They got your back! They’ll not only help you make decisions, they’ll give you the encouragement you need to do so.

Look at your nightmares as a literal wake up call, letting you know a difficult situation in your life has gone on long enough and needs be dealt with correctly… and NOW!

Below is a great example of how a nightmare is connected to a difficult issue and how it is a brutally honest reflection of how the difficult issue is affecting you.  This is from when I was on 105.3 HOT FM with Rachael and Gravy in the Morning in Grand Rapids. Rachael had a helluva nightmare the night before and needed my help. Listen to the audio and you’ll not only see how every single detail in her dream has meaning but also how the dream is letting her know that her difficult waking life issue needs to be taken care of.



Remember how I mentioned that the pen in her dream was about communication? That pen is her ability to communicate to her family what their behavior is doing to her. And remember how the pen was connected to a string that was tearing up her insides? THAT is the message she needs to communicate: “You guys are tearing me apart and ruining what should be one of the happiest times in my life.” Like I said in the audio, NOT COOL!

What is it with families always trying to push their demands onto YOUR wedding? GAH!! That’s why I eloped.  😉

Your dreams, no matter how frightening they may sometimes be, are always trying to help you with EVERY issue in life you face… but they can’t help you much if you don’t understand them.

You NEED these throw pillows on your bed or sofa!

A lot of bathroom dreams take place in a public bathroom and often involve filthy or clogged toilets. And to add insult to injury, there’s often someone trying to walk in on you while you’re trying to go! I was on 95.5 WIFC in Wausau, WI this morning with Dave and Stacy when a lady called in with this exact dream. Listen to the audio below. I explain the meaning of the filthy toilet, the public bathroom, why people are walking in on her and the very helpful advice within the dream. PLUS the segment starts out with a pretty funny butt dial! But keep listening because shortly after I interpret the dream, I really put my professionalism on display (not).

The specifics of the dream, such as the type or condition of the car as well as the condition of the road and how well you are driving will help you to zero in on which life path it is connected to.  Crashing is the most common element to the car dream that I’ve discovered in my research.  It often means that some direction your life has taken has come to a sudden and messy stop. And then there’s the fender bender dream, which is connected to a waking life issue that isn’t quite as dire but still needs your attention.

Last week I was on 105.3 Hot FM in Grand Rapids, MI with Gravy and Rachael in the morning. Rachael told me about a fender bender dream she had that was commenting on a very important road she had chosen to go down…

As you can see from Rachael’s dream, her situation of being stuck in the middle as far as her parents and future in laws isn’t as dire as a crash but is more like a fender bender: an aggravation that has stopped her in her tracks for a bit, an aggravation that does need to be addressed but also an aggravation that she can move on from just as one can still drive their car after a fender bender.

Like Rachael’s dream, your dreams have a really cool way of showing you your current issues in the form of a symbolic and meaningful metaphor too. This allows you to gain a better understanding of the big picture so that you can make better decisions. And better decisions make for a better life! Why?

Well, sometimes it’s because we still want them back, sometimes it’s because we had no closure, sometimes it’s because we are still holding on to the pain (if the relationship was abusive) and sometimes it’s because we want that same excitement and passion back in our life again… not the ex but the excitement he or she represents.

But sometimes it’s for a completely different reason all together, which is the case below. Listen to the short audio to see what I mean. The message of the ex dream:  Remember, sex in a dream is more about merging qualities of your dream lover into yourself or about uniting on some level for a common good. Depending on which ex you shagged in your dream, it is either time to merge the passion of long ago into the relationship of now or time to merge your efforts together for the sake of a common goal such as your children. If the ex is someone you are still pining for then it is best to de-merge and realize this person is an ex for a reason.

As disturbing as “Chris’s” dream was for him, once he was able to understand it he could see the very powerful advice it offered him. Your dreams are offering powerful advice to you too, advice that will greatly improve a current issue in your life. In fact, your dreams are your very own secret weapon for a more fulfilling life.
