Last week on my Blogtalk show The Dream Zone a lady named Ebony called in. She had been having a recurring dream EVERY NIGHT for a month that she gets shot in the stomach and dies. Naturally, she needed answers… and answers she got!!

As you heard, she not only got answers, she got relief. And who knows, perhaps this little conversation will help her get her some babies as well!

You may have also noticed that it was very significant that she got shot in the stomach. As I always say, nothing in a dream is random. Where the bullet hits you in your body is important. For example, getting shot in the head can mean someone has taken a shot at your ego or intellect.  Getting shot in the heart can mean someone has emotionally wounded you, to the point of heart break. Again, every single detail in your dream has a meaning and can be connected to what is currently going on in your life. When you can understand the symbols in your dreams and are able to connect them to each other and to your life, what you are left with is an unbelievably powerful message from you, to you, about you. A message you need to know.

Poor Cheryl. As much as I really, truly feel for her, she is the one allowing herself to be in that situation, and her dream is clearly showing her that she can’t survive much more of it, just as her body wouldn’t be able to survive many more bullet holes. Like I say in my latest book Dream On It, Unlock Your Dreams Change Your Life, “Our dreams will be brutally honest with us when our waking mind refuses to be.” That’s what scary dreams are all about, they are often the inner dreaming mind’s way of trying to scare us into reality. A good way to figure out what the dream is connected to is to ask yourself what is the most difficult thing you are dealing with right now?  Odds are, THAT is what your dream is trying to address and help you with. Last night during my Blogtalk  show The Dream Zone, Liz called in and shared a pretty horrible dream with my co-host Frankie and me. Luckily, I was able to get right to the matter at hand…

Another thing I always say is that the dreaming mind will be brutally honest with us when the waking mind refuses to be (I’m just full of little gems, aren’t I?). Look at your disturbing dreams as a wake up call to take care of the negative issues in your life. While you may be complacent about it, your dreaming mind is not, and will eventually slap you into attention by giving you a bad dream such as Liz’s. So don’t ignore or dismiss those dreams as “just a dream,” because they’re not just a dream; they’re actually a really good friend to you… a friend who’s not going to take your BS and who will tell you like it is.

Also, isn’t it ironic that caller Liz’s situation was eerily similar to Liz Lemon’s from 30 Rock? Same name and all? Meh… maybe it’s just me.

Sure, sometimes grandma will make an appearance in our dream when we’ve been thinking about her and missing her, as a means of compensation for her not being a part of our life anymore but I have found in my research that more often than not, Grandma visits our dreamscape for an entirely different reason. In fact, I’ve found that there are two main reasons we’ll find ourselves dreaming of Grandma.

The dream in the audio clip below is a great example of what the grandmother archetype really means in a dream. Michelle called into my Blogtalk radio show The Dream Zone, which you can hear every Thursday afternoon from 6 – 7pm EST (3 – 4pm Pacific), with a pretty funny dream about her grandma that really had her scratching her head. Naturally, she thought it might be a visit from Grandma’s spirit… but it was not! However, the grandmother archetype in Michelle’s dream DID have some wise advice for her:

Now, I’m not saying that those who have passed on can’t communicate with us through our dreams, I kinda lean towards the fact that they can. But it’s important to keep in mind that whenever you dream of a departed loved one, it’s not always going to be their spirit. In fact, most of the time it’s not (remember everything and everyone in a dream is symbolic of some part of you). In Michelle’s case, Grandma represented the part of her that was old enough to know better! That’s really what our dreams are all about, after all, helping us see our current issues in a better light – sometimes a brutally honest light – so that we can make better decisions and do the right thing for ourselves. Come to think of it, the grandma is a great visual to attach to your dreams because, like a grandma, dreams are full of sage advice… once we learn to understand them.

We finally got to the bottom of it! Chris’s dream is a great example of how, even the most embarrassing dream, has a very relevant and helpful message for you. But what I love most about Chris’s dream is how the dreaming will throw its own party when there is something worth celebrating. And yes, being opened up to the powerful world of dreams is definitely cause for celebration in my book… hookers and all! I mean, what’s a good party without hookers? And goats? Ahem. Anyway…

All the calls were so good, even the ones that were off topic. I actually want to share with you one of the off topic calls because it is such a good example of how even the smallest snippet of a seemingly unimportant dream can have a crazy, powerful message for you! Plus, the real life issue revealed in this dream is fascinating…

See? Like I always say, dreams don’t just mean something, they also give you something to take with you: advice, a better understanding of your current situation, ideas, inspiration, even warnings. Sarah’s butter dream is giving her encouragement to fight the good fight. I wish her well.
