Sometimes it’s hard to decide what New Year’s resolution to make because there are so many things we’d like to change, and some of us don’t even bother with it. If this sounds like you then you may be interested to know that – whether you can’t decide or you don’t think it’s worth it – your inner subconscious mind knows what you should change in this new year… and it has probably been nagging you about this for quite some time. In other words, if you have any of the following common recurring dreams, then you have got yourself fertile ground for a New Year’s resolution!

Being chased – If you’re constantly running from something or someone in your dreams at night, then odds are you’re avoiding an issue in waking life. In general, chasing dreams are caused by “fight or flight” situations where you choose “flight” or avoidance rather than “fight” or confrontation. Perhaps you’re the type that tries to get out of obligations, or you avoid someone rather than having that needed confrontation with them. Whatever the case, if this is your recurring dream then avoidance and procrastination is your issue.

The resolution – Resolve to face and deal with your issues this year, no matter how difficult they may be. You can’t run forever. Avoidance is never a good way to handle an issue. All it does is prolong the pain and anxiety. Like ripping off a band aid, it may be difficult or painful for a moment, but once it’s taken care of the relief will feel so good!

Tornadoes – If this is your recurring dream then you are likely a proud card-carrying member of the worry wart club! Tornadoes are a classic symbol for worry and anxiety over approaching doom. The spinning of the tornado is also important as it is connected to the idea that you feel something in your life is spinning out of control. These dreams are showing you your own worry in the form of a tornado so that you can understand the destructive force it has on your psyche.

The resolution – Time to channel your inner storm chaser this year and confront these worries head on. First, identify what your worry is connected to. Is it something you have no control over like world affairs or someone else’s issue? If so then know that all you can do is change your reaction to it. Rather than fearing the worst, hope for the best or remove your mind from it altogether. If your tornado dreams are the result of worry over a current situation directly connected to you that you can change, then stop focusing on what you fear the end result may be and start focusing on what you want the end result to be. A simple shift in your thought process can make huge positive changes in your life.

Your mate is cheating – This dream has caused a lot of men to get slapped first thing in the morning! But it rarely means that your mate is actually getting his or her pleasures elsewhere. It DOES mean, however, that there is a third wheel in the relationship. No, not necessarily a person but rather a thing. There is something that your mate is giving too much time and attention to and it is causing you to feel “cheated” out of the time and attention you feel you should be getting. Usually the third wheel is work, but it could be something like fantasy football, the X Box, golf or a new baby that’s taking all the focus away from the relationship.

The resolution – Resolve to carve out more time for each other. Ask your mate if they can cut back a bit on all the time he or she is giving to this other thing. Don’t be naggy about it. Offer up a compromise. “If you cut back on X then I’ll cut back on Y,” for example. If this isn’t possible because the third wheel is work or a new baby, then make a date night. Once a week make sure you create a time and place where it is just the two of you focusing on nothing else but each other. This will not only fan the flames in your relationship, it will stop those awful cheating dreams dead in their tracks!

Filthy, clogged or out of order toilets – This dream often has major Eew factor! It’s also one I get a lot. In this dream you gotta go! But you either can’t find a toilet or the ones you do find are nasty, clogged, out of order or even in a place where everyone can see you go! This recurring dream means you have a recurring behavior pattern of “holding in” your frustrations and negativity rather than “”relieving yourself” and opening up about what is bothering. These dreams are showing you what you are doing to your inner psychological plumbing: you are allowing it to get backed up! The more you hold in what you feel is “crappy,” the more life will stink!

The resolution – This year, start working on letting it out. It doesn’t matter what others think of you. If something is bothering you, holding it in is the worst thing you can do. That will only lead to tense relationships, angst, headaches and even back pain! When we hold in emotional frustration, it starts to affect us physically. So let it out and flush it away. You’ll be surprised how well those that are frustrating you will be able to handle it… and most importantly, you’ll be surprised how great your clean, clear emotional plumbing feels!

Teeth falling out – Believe it or not, this dream has nothing to do with your oral hygiene! Anything having to do with the mouth in a dream is actually connected to the way you have been communicating lately. Loose teeth in a dream mean loose speech in waking life. And if they fall out of your mouth uncontrollably, then odds are you’ve let something slip out of your moth the previous day. If you gossip, if you say things without thinking about it or tend to continually say things you wish you hadn’t, you’re likely very familiar with this recurring dream.

The resolution – Start thinking before you speak! Once it’s out of your mouth, you can’t put it back in. Be mindful that what you say affects others. The loss of teeth in waking life would make you worry about your looks the same way bad communication might make you worry about how you appear to others. Just as you polish those pearly whites for aesthetics, polishing up your communication skills will make you shine too.

It’s a new year. Why not create a new you?

The history of making New Year’s resolutions dates all the way back to the time of ancient Rome. The Romans are responsible for the majority of the modern calendar and for the tradition of making resolutions on New Years.

In 153 BCE Janus, a mythical king of early Rome was placed at the head of the Roman calendar by the Roman Senate. In legend Janus had two faces which he used to look to the future and the past. Since it was believed that Janus could forgive transgressions, many Romans would give gifts and make promises at the beginning of the new calendar year. Their belief was that Janus would see this and then bless their life for the entire year. And thus we have the tradition of making New Year’s resolutions.

Sometimes it’s hard to decide what New Year’s resolution to make because there are so many things we’d like to change, and some of us don’t even bother with it. If this sounds like you then you may be interested to know that – whether you can’t decide or you don’t think it’s worth it – your inner subconscious mind knows what you should change this year… and it has probably been nagging you about this for quite some time.

Cheating dreams can be infuriating, worrisome and the cause of many a slap across the face first thing in the morning. In fact, in a recent survey I conducted, with over 5000 participants, the cheating dream came in as the #1 most common dream! As upsetting as these dreams can be, the good news is that they rarely indicate that your mate is getting his or her pleasures elsewhere. They do suggest, however that something rather than someone is taking the time and attention from your mate that you feel you deserve.

The following dream is the perfect example of how the cheating dream runs rampant through our collective psyche… and why! This is from my nationally syndicated newspaper column The Dream Zone:

Dear Lauri,
Since my boyfriend and I started dating over 2 years ago, I constantly have dreams that he’s either cheating on me or that he’s leaving me for another girl. I’m sure he’s not cheating in real life so why am I having these dreams all the time? – Kira 28, Wausau

Lauri: Since you’re certain your boyfriend is as loyal as a Labrador, let’s figure out the other reasons you might be getting these dreams. Is there something else in his life that you are a bit jealous of? Work? The X Box? Is he in a band? Once you can pinpoint what it is that feels like a third wheel in the relationship, it’s time to compromise. Offer to give up or cut back on something your mate isn’t a big fan of if he promises to cut back on the activity that is causing you to feel left out. If you both stick to the compromise, you’ll find that the dreams will stop.

Kira replies: That makes perfect sense! It is definitely our jobs. My boyfriend and I work often and our shifts are always changing so we aren’t able to spend much time together. I know I feel guilty about working long hours many days in a row and I’m sure he does too. Maybe it’s time for a career change! Thank you, I feel much better!

When you can understand the symbolism in your dreams, they wont freak you out anymore. Like Kira, you’ll feel much better too! You’ll also be able to see that they are giving you extremely important messages you need to know to improve your behavior, your relationships, your current issues and your life! It’s a much bigger deal to be able to understand your dreams than you think. If you had a copy of Dream On It on your nightstand, you’d be able to figure out your dreams every single morning!

“This book is fantastic! It’s like having a therapist at your fingertips without the charge.”

According to a recent study at the University of Montreal, sex dreams make up about 8 percent of all dreams for both men and women. Society’s openness regarding sex, coupled with our growing interest in understanding dream content has taught us that, surprisingly, sex dreams are rarely about sex at all – no matter how saucy they might be.

It’s important to remember that sex, to your dreaming mind, is not about a physical union you want, but rather a psychological union you need!

The Mystery Lover is the most common of all sex dreams. Many of us wonder if this dream is actually a glimpse of our soul mate who might be out there somewhere waiting for us. Alas, t’is not so. But what is so is that the unknown, faceless man or woman that often appears in our dreams does indeed hold significance. As you may remember in Chapter 2, our dreams have a cool way of showing us the different parts of our personality in the form of a person so we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and what makes us tick. That being said, the mystery lover in your dreams is the embodiment, the personification of the qualities we tend to associate with that gender.

If you are a woman, the mystery man represents your male personality traits, the part of you that can be assertive, speak your mind, bring home the bacon, handle your business and even squish the spider in the tub.

I have had this dream several times where I am having very graphic sex with an unknown man. He is everything I have ever wanted and very kind. I reach the Big O in these dreams and I always wake up very satisfied, but I never see his face. –Tammy 40

Lauri: You are attracted to this man in your dream because your dreaming mind wants you to be attracted to your own male, assertive, money-making, take-charge qualities so that you will use them to improve your life. Your dream is showing you that this part of you is very much a part of who you are and a part of you that you like. It’s a VERY GOOD sign that you are having these dreams as it means you have successfully merged your male self into your life and have achieved darn near perfect balance of male assertive energy and female nurturing energy. The Big O is like extra credit for a job well done in waking life. Your body doesn’t know the difference between a dreaming event and a waking event, so it re-acts the same. During the sex dream your brain sends messages to the nerve endings in your little lady down there that sex is happening so she responds in the same explosive way as if it were real!

Tammy replies: I am a single mother and I do everything! I bring home the money, fix the plumbing, paint, mix cement, etc. I have been divorced for 13 years now and I do feel I have finally found myself. I am proud of myself and am very excited that I can do what some men don’t even know how to do when fixing a house. It saves me a lot of money.

Tammy’s dream is a great example of a woman who has embraced and merged with her male side. Notice how satisfied she is from these dreams. That satisfaction is not just physical; it is emotional and psychological satisfaction as well.

Whenever a woman needs to assert herself or take charge in some form or fashion such as when she is up for a promotion, when she is a single parent and has to play the role of both, or when she needs to speak up for herself during the day, these are the times when the mystery lover will pay her a visit at night.
If you are a man, the mystery woman represents your female qualities… yes, even the hairiest and burliest of men have at least a touch of feminine wiles within. Female qualities are the traits we usually associate with women, such as sensitivity, creativity, being a good listener, nurturing yourself and those around you. From time to time in a man’s life, it will do him well to acknowledge and utilize these softer qualities.

Throughout life we struggle to incorporate the right balance of each into our personalities and behavior. A man wants to be caring and understanding, yet he doesn’t want to be a sissy. A woman wants to assert herself, yet she doesn’t want to be labeled the B word! Our mystery lover dreams are guiding us towards that perfect balance of firm and gentle, bold and caring, yin and yang.

Cheating dreams can be infuriating, worrisome and the cause of many a slap across the face first thing in the morning. In fact, in a recent survey I conducted through my website www.thedreamzone.com with over 5000 participants, the cheating dream came in as the #1 most common dream! As upsetting as these dreams can be, the good news is that they rarely indicate that your mate is getting his or her pleasures elsewhere. They do suggest, however that something rather than someone is taking the time and attention from your mate that you feel you deserve.

I keep getting these dreams about my boyfriend of 5 years cheating on me. It’s like he doesn’t even care and has no emotion in the dream. I’m 99% sure he would never do that. I just don’t understand why I keep having these dreams and why they are so constant. Is it about a trust problem? – Brenda 24

Lauri: Did anything happen that would give you a good reason to be distrustful? If not then let’s figure out the other reason you are getting these dreams. Is he doing something that you are a bit jealous of? Is he working too much? Spending too much time with friends or on some project or hobby? What is he doing that makes you feel like he should be with you instead?
Brenda: He always spends time on the computer. When he comes home from work he goes straight on the computer and does his fantasy baseball thing. When I start to tell him about my day he won’t even listen and it makes me feel like he doesn’t care.

Brenda’s dream is a clear indication that her boyfriend’s fantasy baseball league has taken on the qualities of a mistress in her mind. And the fact that the dream is so constant means it is a constant issue in their relationship. He should be tickling her, not the keyboard! Plus, the apathy he displays in the dream is directly connected to the apathy he shows her in real life. These dreams will keep happening until Brenda is able to work this out with her boyfriend.

Sometimes, we may be the ones having extracurricular sex with someone other than our mate. These are the dreams where you are very much aware that you are cheating and the feelings of guilt are often included. When you are the one straying in your dreams you need to ask yourself what you may be doing that is taking your attention away from your mate. The guilt you feel in the dream is a tell tale sign that, deep down, you are aware that this may not be sitting well with your significant other.

Cheating dreams can be very upsetting and they rarely mean an actual affair is going on. In fact, when understood, they can actually fan the flames in your relationship. Once you can pinpoint what it is your mate is “cheating on you” with, or what you may be guilty of giving too much time to, it’s time to compromise. Offer to give up or cut back on something your mate isn’t a big fan of if he or she promises to cut back on the activity that is causing you to feel left out. If you both stick to the compromise, you’ll find that the dreams will stop.

The Ex is a very popular character in our naughty dreams. Even though it may be light years since you were with this person, he or she STILL continues to appear in your dreams, bringing those old feelings back to the surface that leave you wondering if you still may be holding a flame.

I keep having recurring dreams about getting back together with my ex boyfriend. Sometimes we’re just hanging out and other times it’s downright filthy sex! However, I am married and haven’t spoken to him in over 10 years. – Jennifer 37

Lauri: Was he your first love? Strangely enough, we continue to dream of our first loves, even if we’ve moved on into a happy marriage. Don’t worry, it’s not that you want him back, it’s that you want what he represents back: excitement, bubbles, passion! You are likely to get these dreams when your marriage gets a little too routine and humdrum, as all marriages do from time to time. Your dream is using your ex to remind you of the passion that is still alive inside of you. These dreams are actually good for you and are alerting you to the fact that the passion department doesn’t want to become a thing of the past. Might be a good idea to get thyself down to Victoria’s Secret® and buy something red and lacy.

Jennifer replies: It makes so much sense now. He was my first love. While I was with him, there was lots of excitement and passion. We would do things so spontaneously. And I wasn’t as self-conscious as I am now. I can see now that I don’t get involved in new things like I did before. You’re right; I do need to spice things up, in my life and in my marriage. You’ve made me see things in a different light.

Jennifer’s marriage, like millions of marriages before hers and millions of marriages yet to be, has become complacent. Complacency is easy because it takes no effort. Like Jennifer, as we settle into the land of Hum Drum while awake, our dreams become restless while we sleep. The dreaming mind doesn’t forget the excitement and thrill from long ago, so it will bring those feelings back to you in the form of the person you first experienced those feelings with. These dreams aren’t about the person, they are about the feelings.

The most common meaning behind the “sex with the ex” dream is a need to rekindle the excitement in your intimate life. Once you take action on your dream’s gentle nudging, and continue to change it up and keep it interesting, the ex won’t need to pay you another visit… that is unless the ex still has a role in your life, such as an ex spouse. If you deal with the ex spouse on a regular basis then that person is not likely to be a symbol, rather your inner mind is alerting you to an issue with that specific person and, as always, you will need to look at what happened the day before the dream in order to pinpoint the issue.

The exes we tend to have naughty dreams about the most are our first love, an ex we still have ties to because of children or other circumstances, or the ex that most recently broke our heart. Dreaming of the ex that broke your heart can be a sign that you are stuck emotionally and have not allowed yourself to move on. These dreams are a clear indication that you have not healed in which case the dreams will continue until you let go and leave the past in the past. It is impossible to move forward while you are still holding on to what is behind you.

Spicy or awkward, your sex dreams play an important role in your life’s journey. In a nut shell, they show you what you lack. In waking life sex begins with desire, proceeds to a merger and ends in completion and satisfaction. The dreaming mind uses this same process to help you bring what you lack into your life. If you desire to be able to speak your mind, your dream will use someone you know that has that ability, will create a desire for them in your dream, merge your bodies together to symbolize bringing that quality into yourself and in most cases, complete the merger and give you satisfaction i.e. orgasm, which is not only representative of the satisfaction of having that quality be a new part of you but is also icing on the cake!

In the sex dream chapter of Dream On It, you will also learn what it means to have sex with The Co-worker, The Boss, The Friend, The Same Gender, Oral Sex, Family Members, Masturbation and more!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Have you noticed that you may be having more dreams about your mate (or your crush) lately? Most of us our dreams are about our relationships this time of year, whether you know it or not.

Why?

Because it is the day for lovers and a time when we actually give our relationship the focus and attention it deserves. However, our dreams can be really bizarre and seem to make no sense, so how can we know when our dreams are about our relationship? I got you covered.

Below are the most common symbols you need to look out for because – more often than not – they are telling you something you need to know about your mate or the current condition of the relationship…

Adultery/cheating – Something has become a third wheel in your relationship. Is your loved one doing too much of something that takes away from the relationship? Your subconscious mind may see it as a ‘mistress’ or another man. Your dream is telling you that you are feeling “cheated” out of your loved one’s time and attention. If you are the one cheating, ask yourself what you may be doing that is taking away from the time your mate needs from you. Is it a new baby? Is it your job? Your friends? Traveling? These dreams are telling you that you and your mate need to find a way to appreciate one another more.

Boat/ship – Your ability to navigate through an emotional situation. If the boat is sinking it means you are getting emotionally overwhelmed, perhaps sinking into a depression or you are getting in over your head. Boats and ships can also point to a romantic relationship; the love boat, two ships passing in the night, etc. The boat in your dream will reflect if your current situation – particularly romantic situation – is smooth sailing or rocky or sinking.

Cat/kittens – Feminine sexual energy. “sex kitten.” A cat biting you can mean a call to intimacy. A sick or starving cat can mean you are having a dry spell. Can also point to independence, aloofness, gossip or “cattiness,” balance or any other qualities you associate with a cat. A predatory cat is your ability to protect your best interests as well as go out on the hunt and get what you want in life. If the cat is a threat in your dream then this part of you is trying to get your attention because it wants you to utilize it in your life.

Dog – Symbolizes someone you feel is a loyal companion. Usually refers to your mate but could also be a friend or co-worker. The state of the dog reflects the current state of your relationship. Could symbolize responsibility, as pets are responsibilities. Could symbolize a fear if you are afraid of dogs. May also symbolize your need or desire to buckle down and train yourself to behave. Look at the type of dog in your dream. What is that type of dog known for? German Shepherd: Best known for being a guard dog or police dog. Are you being or do you need to be guarded when it comes to a particular issue? Are you overly protective? Husky: Best known as a sled dog. Is your relationship becoming a heavy burden? Are you dragging an issue on too long? Dalmation: Is there a “fire” or urgent situation you need to put out? Or is your relationship really heating up?

Water – Your emotional state. The state of the water will reflect the state of your emotions, how you are currently feeling about something in your life such as a relationship. Can also symbolize creative juices. A healing energy. Calm clear water suggests you are clear about emotional decisions. Muddy, murky water is connected to emotional confusion and depression. Rising flooding water means you may be getting in over your head, getting in too deep. An increasingly tough situation. Being under water indicates you are in over your head and feeling overwhelmed.

These definitions were taken straight out of the dictionary portion of my book Cracking The Dream Code, which you can save 30% on when you put “love” in the coupon code at checkout TODAY Only!
One of the most important keys to understanding your dreams is not to look AT them but to look IN to them. Every object, every character, even the actions and the setting of your dream is symbolic of something that is going on in your life and in your mind RIGHT NOW! Do not take your dreams literally. Your dreams are full of symbols and when you can understand those symbols you’ll be able to see how they are directly connected to your life today and are even giving you direction on how to deal with tomorrow.

To show you what I mean, I will cover the 12 most common dreams we all share and what they mean.

Being chased: If you are being chased then you are running from some issue or confrontation in waking life you’d rather not face. What or whom are you avoiding? Learn to face your issues right away. When you do, the being chased dreams will stop.

Car: A car in a dream shows how you are traveling through life or through a particular situation. Can also refer to how you are ‘driven’ or motivated. A speeding car is a good indication you need to slow down and take it easy in waking life. A car with no brakes means you are having difficulty putting the brakes on something. A crashing car may indicate you are headed for a crash, a rude awakening. An out of control car means you have lost control of something in your life. A car that won’t start indicates you are having trouble getting things up and running or that you have lost your ‘drive’ or motivation. It’s always good to be in the driver seat of your car, it means you are in control. If your car is stolen then you may be feeling directionless in your life or you may be having a difficult time making a decision, feeling unsure what direction to take.

Cheating: Unless you have a good reason to suspect your mate is cheating on you, I wouldn’t start looking through their drawers or pockets just yet! Ask yourself if your loved one doing too much of something that takes away from the relationship? Your subconscious mind may see it as a ‘mistress’ or another man. Your dream is telling you that you are feeling ‘cheated’ out of your loved one’s time and attention. If you are the one cheating, ask yourself what you may be doing that is taking away from the time your mate needs from you. Is it a new baby? Is it your job? Your friends? Traveling? These dreams are telling you that you and your mate need to find a way to appreciate one another more.

Death: Change, the old dying off in order to make way for the new. The end of an issue or relationship. A part of yourself, a part of your life, something in your world coming to a close. Our dreams often equate a change in our life to death because – as with death – when a change is happening we tend to fear what may be “on the other side” of that change. If you are dreaming of death, fear not. Rebirth is around the corner. Dead people in a dream usually refer to issues that are dead, that you should no longer give any energy to. Ask yourself if you are holding a grudge that you need to let die. Actual dead people you once knew often refer to that point in your life when they were around. Is there anything about who you were then that you need to bring back to life now?

Dog: Symbolizes someone you feel is a loyal companion. Usually refers to your mate but could also be a friend or co-worker. It could also represent something you have loyalty towards, something you need to stick to such as your fitness, quitting smoking, eating better, etc. A dog could also symbolize a fear if you are afraid of dogs. May also symbolize your need or desire to buckle down and train yourself to behave. Look at the type of dog in your dream. What is that type of dog known for? German Shepherd: Best known for being a guard dog or police dog. Are you being or do you need to be guarded when it comes to a particular relationship? Are you overly protective? Husky: Best known as a sled dog. Are you carrying a heavy burden? Are you dragging an issue on too long? Dalmation: Is there a ‘fire’ or urgent situation you need to put out?

Falling: Fear of failure, of losing status or of losing control. You’ve suffered a big letdown or something in your life is going rapidly in the wrong direction: your finances? A relationship? Your career? Your self esteem? Time to redirect this situation immediately! Sometimes falling can point to falling into a depression.

Flying: Your dream is showing you that you have the ability to break free from Earthly woes and from things that bring you down and make your soul feel heavy. Your ability to soar to new heights and

reach a higher level in life than where you are now. Can also be a pat on the back from your subconscious for doing a good job. What’s happening right now that makes your spirit feel like soaring?

House: No matter whether you dream of your actual house or some random dream house, it symbolizes YOU, your state of mind, the dwelling place of your soul. The state of the house reflects yourself at the time of the dream. Mansion: Could symbolize your goals. Grand ideas. An elaborate way of thinking and doing. New House: A new way of thinking and behaving. Old House: Old, out of date attitudes. An old soul. If the house is run down, you may be feeling tired and run down. House Under Construction: Rebuilding yourself, you are undergoing renovation, transformation. If it is a house you used to live in, then it may not be about the house but who you were back then. If you are trying to find your way back home then you are probably trying to get things back to normal in waking life. House You Used To Live In: It’s not about the house, it’s about who you were when you lived there, your state of mind at that time. Is there something going on now that is making you to feel that same way? Do you need to bring that state of mind from back then into the now? Or is there an issue that began back then that you haven’t been able to let go of? In that case, your dream may be showing you that it is impossible to move forward if you are still holding on to what is behind you. Time to move out of that old state of mind.

Nudity: What is causing you to feel embarrassed, vulnerable or unprepared in real life? Are you going to be or have you recently been in a situation where all eyes are on you? Have you ‘revealed’ a little too much about yourself or about something? This dream usually means you are concerned people are noticing your personality flaws. It may also mean you need to reveal the truth or get down to the bare facts.

Sex: A need to unite the qualities or opinions of someone else into your own life. Pick three words that describe your dream lover. Apply those words to yourself, to your life. Would you or your life improve if you took on one of those qualities or opinions? Sex in a dream is not always about a physical union you want but rather a psychological union you need. Also ask yourself if you have recently or if you need to “come together” on some level with the person you dreamed about. To have sex with someone of the same gender (if you are not gay) means you have probably done something recently that makes you proud of your gender. For example, pregnant women tend to get girl-on-girl dreams because there is nothing more feminine than creating life. Men can get a guy-on-guy dream when they land a hot date or get a promotion.

Teeth: Most often symbolize your words. If your teeth are falling out then you have been having loose speech, speaking without thinking or gossiping, you have allowed something out of your mouth that should have remained in there permanently… like your teeth! If you are spitting out your teeth then there is something that needs to be said.

Water: Your emotions. The state of the water will reflect the state of your emotions. Can also symbolize creative juices. A healing energy. Calm Clear Water: Clear about emotional decisions Muddy, Murky Water: Emotional confusion. Unable to see through an emotional issue. Depression. Rising Water/Flood: You may be getting in over your head, getting in too deep. An increasingly tough situation. Under Water: In over your head. Feeling overwhelmed. This dream is telling you it is time to take a breather and re-evaluate your current circumstances.

Moment” or two, then you will LOVE my book “Dream on It, Unlock Your Dreams Change Your Life.”

This book is much more than a dream dictionary, it also teaches you how the different dreams we get are connected to and helping us with the different parts of our self.

If this sounds like you then you may be interested to know that – whether you can’t decide or you don’t think it’s worth it – your inner subconscious mind knows what you ought to resolve to change this year… and it has probably been nagging you about this for quite some time. In other words, if you have any of the following common recurring dreams, then you have got yourself fertile ground for a New Year’s resolution!

Recently, I had a very strange dream: I was making out with a guy, when suddenly, my boyfriend walks in, I hurriedly let go of the other guy and start apologizing to my boyfriend. Seems to be a rather logical scenario, right? Weird thing is: the guy I’m making out with, when my boyfriend walks in on me, is actually my boyfriend! Basically, I’m cheating on my boyfriend with my boyfriend.

We’re in a relationship of 3.5 years now, with weekly sleepovers, dying to move in together but forced to wait — I’m in my last year of college, he’s looking for a job — and I don’t really get what this dream means. I really love him, I’m sure we’ve got a future together, but cheating on him with him somehow seems significant. Could you help me understand?

Lauri: You are correct! This dream is indeed significant! But it’s not so much about the cheating element as it is about the making-out element. Kissing in a dream is actually about intimate communication because — like kissing — it takes two mouths to communicate. The day before this dream, do you recall having a deep, intimate and meaningful conversation with your boyfriend? And did it seem unusual or out of the ordinary in anyway? Did it allow you to see your boyfriend in a new light? Did you learn something new about him? Did you see a different part of him? Was there any element to the conversation that made you realize that he isn’t who you thought he was… but in a good way (hopefully)?

There is also a hint of guilt in this dream that we must explore. The guilt you feel in the dream is directly connected to something you feel a little guilty about in waking life. Did your boyfriend perhaps show you a side of him that you rather liked but he was embarrassed about? Perhaps you delighted in him showing you his vulnerable side, which perhaps goes against who he likes to portray himself as? What in real life did you apologize to him for? Did you laugh at something he didn’t think was funny?

Whatever the case, it seems your BFF has two sides to him that conflict with or contradict each other but that you kinda dig.

Response from Dreamer:

Well, I did have this dream shortly after we had a serious conversation about his job hunting. He had to quit college about a year ago and still hasn’t found a job. Times are though, but I was afraid maybe he wasn’t searching hard enough. Thing is… He kept the job-hunting for at home; when he’s over at my place, he wants to forget about the stressful hunt for a while. He told me he sends out about five applications a day when he’s home, but that he gets answers for maybe one in ten.

I feel kind of guilty for not trusting him about the job hunting. People keep asking me why he hasn’t got a job yet, did he apply at [insert some company’s name here] allready, because it would really be something for him. Their questions made me feel as if I should push him more. He is serious about finding a job, and getting frustrated about being denied every chance.

I feel guilty for doubting him and sad for not being able to change a thing. Happy that he finally opened up about it though, he can be quite tight lipped about his fears and worries.

Every Wednesday I get to dissect a sex or relationship dream for my friends at Em and Lo: Sex, Love and Everything In Between This week’s dream is pretty sick…

I had a dream that I was in the living room and had taken some pills and I was getting real dizzy. Then when I was walking towards the bathroom I went into the bedroom and saw my fiance having sex with a blonde chick. Then I started throwing up. Next thing I know he was trying to help me throw up the pills. Then my phone rings in real life and it’s him calling me! What the hell?!

Lauri: Something must have happened recently that was “a hard pill for you to swallow.” The dizziness in the dream is connected to uncertainty in waking life. This issue is making your head spin! And it probably does not have to do with your fiance. But let me assure you that just because you see him having sex with another woman in your dream, doesn’t mean he is getting his pleasures elsewhere in real life… unless you have good reason to suspect him! Most likely, he is giving his time and attention to something else and it has become a third wheel in your relationship, to the point that he isn’t by your side as much as you would like while you deal with this issue of yours that has been hard to swallow.

You begin vomiting in the dream because this issue of yours is very unhealthy for you and you need to purge yourself of it immediately, and doing so may involve getting an awful lot off your chest. Your fiance finally comes around at the end of the dream to help you out, which means he was likely a “Johnny come lately” in real life. He finally came to your side to help you rid yourself of the unpleasant issue. Better late than never! Oh, and the fact that he happened to call in the midst of the dream? Most likely coincidence.

Dreamer’s response: Wow, thank you, I really like this interpretation! There is a lot going on in my life: I recently found out my real father’s name; I have a six month old and I have a stepson who is seven; my fiance was a cheater when I was pregnant and he proposed to me when I told him that I was tired and I wanted to leave him. A lot has changed. He has stopped being selfish and he finally apologized for everything one day when I was intoxicated and let it all out. The wedding is set for June 2010. But I still have cold feet — I am scared of getting hurt.

I’m in the kitchen and a guy who is about 5 years younger than I am enters. Apparently he is also living with me and my husband here. He begins to embrace me from behind and whisper sexual things in my ear and then he penetrates me from behind while we are up against the door so that no one can get in. I don’t tell him to stop or anything. I just let it go on. Then when we are done we carry on like normal. Then I woke up.

The problem is I would never cheat on my husband and my husband and I have a great sex life. We go at it almost every day. And if the kids are gone then maybe more than once a day. I have a friend who has a young man staying with her and her husband right now so at first I thought the dream was a message to her through me but now I’m not so sure. What do you think it means? Please help.

Lauri: Your dreams are always going to be messages about you to you, not someone else. You see, we are all very narcissistic when we dream. When we dream we go inward and explore our own thoughts and issues and aspirations. We figure out our own lives, not someone else’s. When dreaming it is all about Me, Me, Me! That’s why understanding your dreams is a great way to get an edge in life. That being said, the kitchen setting of your dream suggests that it is about something YOU are planning, preparing for or “cooking up” in waking life.

The younger man, who apparently is living with you and hubby, represents some element within your marriage, some issue, behavior or attitude the two of you have been “living with.” He comes up from behind you. Anything behind you in a dream often refers to something from your past OR something that ought to be put behind you and in your past. Just as you allow him into your body in the dream, so have you allowed this issue or behavior or attitude “back” into your life. Usually, an unknown man in a woman’s dream represents her own “male” energy, also known as yang or animus energy, which is the assertive part of you. The part of you that takes action, brings home the bacon, puts your foot down, etc. Has something from the past come back into your life causing you to be the one in the marriage to “wear the pants”, as they say, or be the bread winner?

You do your business up against the door so no one can get in! That is significant and most likely points to the waking life issue being a private matter OR a matter about which you don’t care to hear other’s opinions or advice. Whatever the case, it is something you are comfortable with and feel is “normal” for you… and so I say to you, “Rock on, sista!”

Dreamer’s response: OMG! This makes perfect sense. Yes there is something we are both dealing with from my past and it has caused lots of problems but recently we began working through the issue. Thank you so much because now I know how to proceed and what to do next. I let others issues go before mine and I’ve put a hold on things that matter to me for the last 10 yrs and there are about to be some changes. Nothing too drastic mind you. Just enough to let my hubby and the other issues in my life know that there’s a new sheriff in town! Thanks again Lauri.

Dreams help us in every area of our lives, relationships, career, overcoming the past… you name it! When you can understand your dreams, your life gets better because decisions are easier, tough situations are clearer and you’re just plain smarter when you dream! My book Cracking The Dream Code will help you learn your own dream language so you can get an edge in life.

“Your books are my favorite gifts to give! Thanks Lauri!” – Vicki, Henderson, NV
